CS2413: Web Site Development |
Throughout the semester, there will be a plethora of websites that may be useful for future web work. As you access these sites, create a list of bookmarks for future use. The bookmarks must be about Web Site Development and not related to the content of the final project - example: cannot be information about one the selected countries.
This can be accomplished in a number of ways
Online Bookmarking:
Bookmarks are saved online and can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection.
There must be an area and/or a way of only seeing the bookmarks directly related to this assignment (stack, folder, tags, etc.)
Possible sites might include:
- http://www.delicious.com/ .. add an icon to your toolbar https://www.delicious.com/tools
- http://pinterest.com/
Browser Bookmarking:
Perhaps, for some, this is a bit easier. Make a folder for all of your class related bookmarks/favorites.
Consider syncing bookmarks across browsers.
If you are using Firefox, check out http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/sync/
At the end of the semester, either a link to the online bookmarking site or a screenshot of the bookmarks must be submitted for a grade. Granted, the links could be organized at the end of the semester, but wouldn't it be easier and more meaningful to develop the list as you proceed through the course?
There must be a minimum of 20 bookmarks.
If a social bookmarking site is used provide a link to the bookmarks.
Create a screenshot/s of your folder containing the bookmarks. The screenshot is of the list of bookmarks, not each individual bookmark. This can probably be done in one screenshot, but definitely no more than five. The path for bookmark folders are as follows:
- Firefox: Bookmarks | Show all Bookmarks
- Google Chrome: Bookmarks | Bookmark Manager
- Internet Explorer: Favorites |Organize Favorites
- Safari: Bookmarks | Show all Bookmarks
Save the screens shots in a folder named bookmarks. Only the web design and development bookmarks (not ones referencing the content of your final project) are to be included. If they are intermingled with non course related bookmarks, the assignment will not be graded.
Upload the folder to Apollo. Create a simple webpage(no formatting required). Name it bookmarks.html. The page will consist of link/s to the screenshots. By clicking on the links I will be able to view each of the screenshots.
Create a link/s to the bookmarking site or screens shots (http://apollo.occc.edu/user#####/bookmarks/bookmarks.html)
The links must open in a new window. (As always, failure to do so will result in the assignment not being graded)
