- Chapter 7: More Links, Layout, and Mobile
- Chapter 8: Tables
Point Value:
150 Points
100 Points: 50 multiple-choice worth 2 points each
50 Points: Coding and/or short answer
Notes During the Test:
- One 3”x5” card of notes - both sides (or the
equivalent) may be used during the test. The same card must be used for both
tests. Students are NOT allowed one card for the Theory Test and one for the
Coding Test. That would be two cards, only one is allowed.
- The notes must be submitted with the test and will not be returned to the
student.
- There will be a 50 point deduction notes of a larger size
are used or if more than one card is used for the two tests.
Logistics
- Check the Assignments and Due Dates for the dates the test will be
available.
- There are actually two tests: Theory and Coding. Both tests must be taken
at the same sitting.
- Student Computer Center (SCC)
- Tests will be in the classroom during regularily scheduled class time.
- A current valid student ID is required.
You must also know the course and section numbers: Example: CS2413 W01
- Students must sign
into the Student Computer Center at least two hours before closing
and begin the coding test at least one hour prior to closing.
The Computer Center does not stay open past closing time for students
to complete tests. If you come later than that you will not be allowed to
test on that date, even if it is the final date for the test. At least two
hours is recommended for both tests. If you come later than that, your test
will be submitted when the SCC closes. All unanswered questions will be
marked incorrect. Allow time for the second
- Once in the Student Computer Center you may not leave until you submit
both tests.
- Cell phones and other electronic devices may not be used during the
test.
- Students may not converse with others during tests.
- Students may not access email or any other site other than the test in
Moodle while taking the test.
- If you have not completed the test when the center closes, you will be
required to submit the test "as is". Be sure to allow enough time.
- The hours for the computer center can be viewed at http://www.occc.edu/IT/SCC.html The entire campus is
closed on Sunday.
- Test Day
- Sign in at the Student Computer Center (3rd floor of the Library)
- Inform assistants that you want to take the test.
- There will be two sections to the test:
- Theory section (1 hour time limit, 50 multiple-choice type
questions)
- Coding/short answer (1.5 hour time limit, 10-15 coding/short-answer
questions)
- Login to a computer in the testing area (video surveillance) and then
the assistant will enter the password for the Theory test.
- Once that is complete, login into the Coding test. The assistant will
type in the password for that portion. At this point, you may not go back to
the Theory test.
- The Coding Test must be started within 10 minutes
of finishing the Theory Test. Any delays longer than that can result
in a 0 for the Theory test.
- It may not take you the full time to do each section, but I want to
make sure you have sufficient time and do not feel rushed.
- When the test is completed, the note card must be submitted to the
assistant when you get your ID back.
- Since some of the test items need to graded manually, test grades will not
be available until after the final deadline for the test and after the
instructor has graded them
- Only the grades will be available in the LMS. If more specific feedback is
desired, contact your instructor for an appointment either during office hours
or on the phone.

Need Help? Have Questions?
- Discussion List
- There is a Discussion List for each test. Use this area to share ideas
and answer each other's questions. Please, however, do not post AFTER you
have taken the test. Sometimes I might curve the test (a little) and that
could give those who take the test after you an unfair advantage.
- Student Computer Center
- Tutors are available in the Student Computer Center (3rd floor of the
Library) for those who will be on campus.
- Contact Instructor
- You are welcome to call or come by during office hours. Also, email me
as needed. Allow about 24 hours for a reply.
Advice
- This is a comprehensive test so spend an adequate amount
time studying. Come prepared!
