Test 1

Test 1 will be available in the Student Computer Center (SCS) located on the third floor of the Library.  The hours for the Student Computer Center are listed at OCCC's website.  A student ID is required to take the test. Allow about 2 -2 1/2 hours. Students must begin the test at least one hour prior to the closing of the SCS. Students arriving later than that will not be allowed to test that day, even if it is the last day to take the test.  At closing time, all tests will end whether or not you have completed the test. There is no coming back later to finish so please plan ahead. The SCS will not remain open after closing time so that students can complete tests. There is no late testing or retesting.

The test will be taken on the computer and is physically located in the LMS. It is in the O5 Course Materials folder. An SCS assistant will enter the password.  When taking the test, it will be a two part test, the first part will be theory (~30 multiple choice questions worth 60 points with a 60 minute time limit) and the second is coding (~10 coding questions worth 40 points with a 90 minute time limit).  When the first test (theory) is submitted, contact the SCS assistant to type in the password for the second section (coding). Students will not be able to go back to the first part (theory) once it is submitted.  Be sure to do BOTH parts of the test.  Failure to do so will result in a grade of 50% or less. so both parts must be completed one right after the other. Students may not leave and come back later to complete the other section. The LMS time stamps the tests and any test that have more than a 5-10 minute delay (time to allow the SCS assistant to type the password) between the theory and coding sections will have a 50% penalty. The grades will not be immediately available. I will grade the coding and release the grades after the final deadline has passed.

There is a link to the test review sheet just above this test information.  Be sure you review it and know how to code the examples.  Traditionally, that is where students loose the most points.

This is a THOROUGH test so be sure you are prepared. You may use a 3"x5" note card (both sides) during the test. It must be submitted to SCS Assistant upon completion of the test. In addition to the information on the Test Review Sheet, be sure you know how to code the following:

If you have any questions or if I have left out any important information, please email me or post to the Discussion List.
